<description>I also just bought a new notebook computer, to augment my older pc, running with XP.

I bought a Sony VAIO with Vista only because there were none with XP. I too was nieve in thinking all the neg hype about Vista could be over stated. How wrong I was. This Sony with Vista is vertually unusable. I can make a cup of coffee and a sandwich while waiting for the next screen. I just spent two hours trying to install Norton Internet Security 2009. No Joy. It will not let me install it. It did let me install Norton Utilities but not NIS.

Because I spent so much time trying to get this Sony machine to work, I can no longer take it back to where I bought it. So I have spent hours online on my old computer trying to get help from Sony support. I have been trying to get Sony to support an installation of XP PRO only to be told over and over that Sony would not support XP and my warranty would be void if I tried. It took a long time dealing with Sony Tech Support but I finally got someone to admit that Vista was not working out and that they were working on a retrofit for XP Pro that may be available in three months. Then I found out that after I bought this thing, Sony and others will replace Vista with Windows 7 when released. But not on My machine, because of my June 27 purchase date.

So, here I sit waiting for Sony to do something. I have already purchased Windows XP Pro for this Sony but don&#039;t have much faith in Sony providing support for this VAIO machine. I&#039;m sure that any support will come at a price I can&#039;t afford.
